The Organizzazione Comunista Internazionalista expresses full solidarity with the fighting immigrant workers of Bangladesh.

 The disaster which has hit your country was not only and mainly the responsibility of nature. The main blame of what happened lies on the robbery that the western countries have been committing for more than 500 years against your country and against all the countries of the South of the world.

First colonialism, now corporations and big banks: it is always the same story. The rich countries who are leading the world capitalism plunder all the human and natural resources and reduce your countries to poverty. And who is forced to poverty does not have many reinforced concrete buildings, has only a few helicopters for relief work, and does not have enough medicines. This is the only reason why a cyclone can give rise to thousands of victims and destroy entire areas (as it has happened in Bangladesh now, and as it happened with the tsunami two years ago in Sri Lanka and in other countries of the Indian Ocean). 

But if the first responsibles are the governments and the western capitalists, the second responsibles are the government of Bangladesh and the various local masters and large traders who live under shelter of the European and American corporations and benefit as well from the beastly exploitation and from the poverty of the working masses of Bangladesh.

 When the Italian government says that it is a “friend” of the immigrants and of your countries, the Italian government lies, it says a falsehood, it is a liar. Indeed, Italy:

• is in the front line of the war against the Afghani people;
• is leading the occupation troops in southern Lebanon, together with France;
• with its banks and corporations, takes part in the robbery and plunder that the West is committing  in every corner of the world;
• treats the immigrants as second-class workers, with racist laws and rules.

 Therefore, no trust is to be put in the Prodi government and in its ministers. No trust is to be put in their promises. If you will manage to obtain the “humanitarian stay-permits”, it will be so just and exclusively THANKS TO YOUR FIGHT. If they will “concede” anything, they will do that only because they are afraid of your capability of mobilization and organization.

 In order to further strengthen this fight, it is necessary to do everything is possible to explain your very right reasons to the Italian workers and to the others immigrants. It is necessary to look for opportunities of common discussion and organization. It is a hard way, but it is indispensable.

Indeed, taking this way is the only thing that can strengthen the struggle you are waging in these days. Moreover, it is the way for beginning to build a unitary front of workers of all the countries against the international capitalism. It is the way to destroy the society of money and, instead of it, to build a society where exploited and exploiter people, oppressed and oppressors countries would not exist anymore. A society in which the science, technology, and wealth that are produced by human work would not be finalized anymore to the capitalists’ profit, but would be placed at common disposal of all the working mankind, and finalized to the welfare and safety of all the peoples.
