Against the Renzi Government !
Among the first initiatives taken by the new Government is the promise of tax-cut on low wages: from May workers earning less than 1,500 euros a month would receive an additional 70-80 euros a month through tax-cuts in their pay packets.
According the Prime Minister and the mainstream press, this measure shows that also workers will benefit from the effects of the "new" Renzi Government’s policy, which aims to “revive the country economically” and to enhance the role of Italy in the European Union.
Nothing further from truth!
Let's consider also the other Renzi Government’s measures:
1. the Government has made labour market even more flexible. For example, now companies are free to hire and fire a worker at will for eight times in three years.
2. The Government is launching "institutional reforms", whose aim is to make the state administration more efficient in serving the interests of capitalists, thus strengthening the dominance of bosses over workers.
3. The Government is sharpening the knives for new structural cuts to health care and social spending. Moreover, Renzi wants to abolish the “Cassa Integrazione” (Wages Guarantee Fund) and replace it with a worse system of state unemployment benefits.
Let’s analyze the various aspects of the Government's domestic policy: the reduction of payroll taxes is a sort of “anesthesia” with which Renzi - and the industrial and financial national and international world that supports him – is aiming to make workers accept a heavy weakening of collective rights.
Therefore, all the workers - be they Italian or immigrant – will be even more blackmailable and subject to the diktats of the market and companies, in the name and for the purpose of boosting the competitiveness of Italy.
Also the Government's foreign policy is against workers, in particular the initiative on Ukraine and on the case of the two Italian marines who shot and killed two fishermen off the coast of Kerala in February 2012.
1. The Italian Government is at the forefront in the aggression that the EU, the USA, and Nato have been carrying out against Ukraine. This aggression aims to counteract the rise of the Asian emerging capitalist powers, Russia and China. And it aims to put at disposal of the Western capitalists the immense reservoir of cheap labour force and raw materials of Ukraine, Russia, and the whole Asia.
2. The Renzi Government's effort to obtain the return of the two Italian marines from India represents a threatening message towards Asia, Africa and Latin America. Claiming the release of the two Navy soldiers means, in fact, claiming the right of Western powers to commit with impunity every sort of injustice against the peoples and the exploited all over the South and East of the world.
It is necessary that workers start a debate among themselves about these issues.
It is necessary to begin highlighting that the only weapon with which workers can defend themselves from Government’s and bosses’ attacks is the unitary organization and struggle against the Renzi Government’s policy and the bourgeois powers supporting it.
